Description

Original work by Aly Mohsen, this figurative still life is rooted in the classical painting tradition, reinterpreted through a contemporary sensitivity to light and composition. The scene presents a carefully structured arrangement of objects placed on a wooden surface: a glass flask filled with wine, a transparent drinking glass, an extinguished candle, clusters of grapes, figs, and peaches, organized according to a rigorous and balanced formal order.

The composition is set against a deep, dark background that enhances chiaroscuro contrast and focuses attention on the central elements. Warm, controlled light precisely shapes the volumes, highlighting the transparency of the glass, the luminosity of the grapes, and the tactile qualities of the fruit. A draped cloth suspended in the background introduces a vertical movement that enriches the spatial structure and gently guides the viewer’s gaze through the scene.

Executed entirely with the brush, the painting demonstrates refined technical control in the rendering of surfaces, reflections, and luminous relationships. The selection and arrangement of objects create a contemplative atmosphere, free from narrative intent, centered on the interaction between light, matter, and visual stillness.

The artwork is completed by a wide, richly decorated gilded wooden frame of classical design. The more restrained inner profile provides a balanced visual separation between image and border, reinforcing the museum-like presentation of the work.
